How CloudPulse handles preferences, likes and analytics.

No visitor accounts

You can read, search, and filter CloudPulse without signing in. No name, email address, or public profile is required.

What stays in your browser

CloudPulse stores your light or dark theme preference and article layout preference in local storage under cloudpulse:theme and cloudpulse:feed-columns. In fixture mode, liking a demo article stores a local flag under cloudpulse:demo-like:<article-id>. These values are not sent to a backend and can be removed by clearing site data in your browser. Private browsing or storage restrictions may prevent demo likes from persisting.

Anonymous likes

For live articles, an anonymous like uses a one-year, HttpOnly browser cookie containing a random identifier. The server stores only its hash with each liked article so a browser can undo its like and counts can be sorted. Clearing cookies creates a new anonymous identity; likes are therefore a lightweight popularity signal, not a verified vote.

Analytics

CloudPulse uses Umami to understand page visits. The tracker loads from the configured Umami server, uses no analytics cookies, omits search parameters from tracked URLs and respects your browser’s Do Not Track setting. Umami receives page information such as the URL path, referrer, browser language and screen size.

Fonts and icons are served locally. There are no publisher-image embeds. Hosting infrastructure may log ordinary web requests.

External websites

Publisher links open another website. That site has its own privacy practices. Article links include utm_source=cloudpulse,utm_medium=referral and the CloudPulse page path they were opened from. Outbound links use noopener noreferrer.
